Ratatat - Ratatat and Classics

ratatat are one of my fav bands! there was a time when i listened to them at least once a day. their self titled album and classics are far superior to lp3 (see previous post) and are up there among my top albums! they are hard to describe but here goes - electroguitarharmonydancetypebrilliance while parts of their songs remind me of metallica (don't look at me as if i'm stupid, the whiney synthy guitar sound is very similar to that used my metallica). i hope you enjoy these...

The Teenagers - Reality Check

one of my very favourite albums! this is ridiculously addictive, the more you listen the more you want. catchy songs, great lyrics and music for any mood.

i have also included a link to their (less good) ep.

The Teenagers - Reality Check

The Teenagers - Homecoming
this is the first teenagers song i heard and is probably still my favourite

Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip - Angles

"ah ha ha...ah ha ha haaaaa...dan le sac...scrOOObius pip" - arguably my fav part of this (brilliant) album. i saw these guys live in sheffield and they were fantastic! they did a stage show, interacted well, sounded amazing and best of all they came in to a remix of the antiques roadshow song! (i have attached a video of them playing an instore in zavvi as it has the atiques roadshow intro)

because everyone likes some soul

everyone likes de la soul, scientific fact! and although their later releases could be considered a bit iffy, this song is a tune! the video is pretty good too, youtube it if u fancy.

De La Soul - Ooh (Ft Redman)

Santogold - Santogold

this album is a grower fo' sho'! i wasn't blown away when i first listened to it but now i am sold! so give it a chance if you don't like it straight away. i have included a track by spank rock (a contributor on the santogold album) as well as the first track off the album, les artistes.

Spank Rock - Bump

80s Song of the Day

this is a tune! i used to think pat benatar was a guy, but apparently i was wrong. anyway...

such a gorgeous song

this is a really nice song that for some reason makes me all nostalgic about my childhood (honestly i dont know why, this song sounds very tribal yet i was raised in surrey which has only recently turned tribal). this image has nothing (officially) to do with the song, but for me it sums it up perfectly.

Enigma - Return to Innocence

Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles and Remixed Rewired

i love crystal castles and this album is fantastic! after hearing alice practice thats what i expected the whole album to sound like but there are a couple of really chilled songs such as tell me what to swallow and untrust us.

Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles
Alt Link

this album of remixes of other people's work is as good a remix album i have heard for a long time. it is unmistakably crystal castles and is good clean fun!

Crystal Castles - Remixed Rewired

Shitdisco - Kingdom of Fear

take out the disco and you have it...thats right, this is shit! generic, uninspiring and unoriginal. you'd be much much much better off with late of the pier.

Shitdisco - Kingdom of Fear

Late of the Pier - Broken

Late of the Pier - VW
Late of the Pier - Space and the Woods
Late of the Pier - The Bears are Coming

put a donk on it!

i dont think i could explain why if i tried...

Noah and the Whale - Peaceful The World Lays Me Down

i was turned onto noah and the whale by their single 5 years time and the album didn't disappoint. it is very easy to listen to and drift away into another, more friendly and peaceful, land. because of the style it can occasionally sound a bit samey but nonetheless this is a good album. one for fans of willy mason although this is distinctly chirpier.

download, listen and drift...

Noah and the Whale - Peaceful The World Lays Me Down

Noah and the Whale - 5 Years Time

if you like noah and the whale then i suggest you also check out laura marling. she was the girl who sang on young love by mystery jets and her album is produced by charlie from noah and the whale and sounds much alike. this is the best track off her album and the one she sung with mystery jets

Mystery Jets - Young Love

because it was hard to find...

i was listening to the radio earlier and lovestoned by mr jt came on. i like this song...lots, and like the outro (titled: i think she knows) even more. so much so that i wish it was a song by itself. luckily (if there is anyone else who likes the outro) i have managed to track the outro down as a single song! so here it is for you to enjoy. i have also provided a link to the justice remix which is ace-o so check it out!

Justin Timberlake - I Think She Knows

Justin Timberlake - Lovestoned (Justice Remix)

Gonzales - Soft Power

this is the latest offering from musical extraordinaire Gonzales (Chilly motherlovers not Jose!!!). i have only given this a brief spin so am not in a position to comment on it yet. i will listen to it again and again and then throw my opinion in there...

Ratatat - LP3

i heart ratatat big time, but at first this album was a real disappointment for me. apparently it was written and recorded in a very short space of time (which is evident). there are a couple of decent songs on it and a couple of ratatat classico's but it lacks much of what made their first two albums so wicked cool! it is still a good album and i'm sure if it wasn't ratatat i'd be raving about it. it is similar to their 9 beats demo in the fact that it lacks the depth of their previous albums. i suppose its a grower, so give it time and eh...its free...so what have you got to lose?
